1) Download a program called Photoscape, this is the program in which you can make gifs/edit photos

2) Download a program called Free Video to JPG Converter. This will turn a video you download from youtube or any other site into little screenshots so that you can make a gif from them.

***make sure where it says total frames from video, you choose a large number, otherwise your gif will come out choppy looking!

3) Once in Photoscape, click on the AniGif button

4) Now it depends on where you save the screenshots to, but all of mine are in a folder just called “FreeVideotoJPG”. Click on the name of the video you want to gif, and all of the little screenshots will show up in a sidebar.

5) Now select the frames you want to be in the gif and drag them to the center (the photos you select will be at the top)

6) The sidebar at the right will allow you to change the size, speed, and alignment of the gif. A good size for gifs for tumblr would be 500x300, that is what I normally choose.

7) Hit save and save where you want it to go and you’re done! **make sure after you save the gif that it is under 1MB otherwise it will not animate on tumblr. If it is over 1MB, just try deleting a few frames, or changing the size of the gif to be a bit smaller.
